2012 was the second time that WVYC hosted the J24 Nationals and although the local fleet was well past its hay days back in the late 90’s and early two thousands, we still managed to attract enough attendance to make it a competitive regatta. There was a strong contingent from Seattle where the fleet has continued to thrive to this day and they dominated the top five positions. Consistent, competitive one design sailing in large fleets really paid for the Americans and they certainly showed the Canadian entries how to get it done. That said, it was wonderful, sailing one design again in our own back yard and as always WVYC was an amazing venue for the event. The first time we hosted the J24 Nationals was in 2005 and on both that and this occasion, the club volunteers came thru as they always do to further enhance our reputation as a great host Club.
