WVYC socials are an essential aspect of our club; they give our members a sense of belonging and connection, not to mention creating lifelong friendships. Our many events allow members to stay engaged all year round which complements the “on the water” and “on the dock” opportunities.
Under the leadership of the club’s Social Convener and strong Social Committee, a variety of social functions are organized throughout the year. These include our Annual Sailpast followed by a reception for members and invited guests at the Clubhouse, the Commodore's Ball - with a focus on new and exemplary members, opening weekends at the Kendrick Island and Elliott Bay Outstations - which consist of a combination of work parties and festivities. There are many other events such as our monthly Pub Nights and Family Nights as well as our annual events such as Robbie Burns Night, the always sold-out Crab and Corn Fest, Awards nights, and a choice of two, or both, Christmas Dinner/Dances.
At least twice a year, Member Information Meetings are hosted by the Board to update members on key developments and progress, to present policy and program proposals for discussion, and to provide an opportunity for direct member input to the Club. These complement our Annual General Meeting.
The Social Committee is always looking for new and innovative social ideas from members; so the program will change, evolve and expand.
Come on out and join in the fun!
