Pub night "Refugee rescue" Friday, November 30, 2018 Earlier this year our own Horseshoe Bay based Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue SAR 1 Coxwain, Ian Grantham, travelled to Lesvos Greece to serve as volunteer crew on the rescue vessel, Mo Chara, for a month. “What I experienced was an incredible three weeks of assisting over 500 people from many areas of the world to try to have a chance at what we all take for granted. Between dealing with UN High Commission on Refugees (UNHCR), NATO, Turkish Coast Guard, Hellenic Coast Guard, Frontex (European Border Patrol for Immigration), and many other NGO’s, it was truly an enlightening and life changing experience. I would go back in a heartbeat!” Join us for a Pub Night on November 30 to hear Ian’s story. Click here to view the menu.
