Friday, October 26th: Antigua Sailing Week
WVYC members Kerry & William Phillips, Kathy Parslow, Clint Currie, Kelly Brix, Adam Arsenault, Kelly Wharton and friend Alex Dumond headed to the Caribbean island of Antigua in May to race in the 51st
Antigua Sailing Week. ASW is one of the premier yacht regattas in the Caribbean with over 100
boats participating. Their chartered Jeanneau 45 took them around the island (twice), into turquoise
anchorages, along the docks of historic marinas and through over a dozen races in 20+ knots
of trade winds. Kelly Wharton will follow their adventure from circumnativigating Antigua to the challenging race conditions of ASW. Share their pre and post racing activities including snorkelling wrecks, steel drum concerts atop famous Shirley Heights, hiking above Lord Nelson’s Harbour, sampling the local cuisine and beverages and hanging out with friendly Antiguans and international yacht crews.
