Pumpkin Bowl: Oct 14-15

Pumpkin Bowl Regatta
by Martin Wale, General Manager

The annual WVYC Pumpkin Bowl is fast approaching!

This BC Circuit Regatta is a highly anticipated event for junior sailors across Canada. Pumpkin Bowl takes place on October 14 - 15th this year. Volunteers and sponsors are critical for the success of this event; your support would be greatly appreciated.

MOORAGE: If you plan to be out of the harbor on this weekend, please let the Front Desk know - with anticipated time of return. Thank you!

WANTED - BILLETS FOR PUMPKIN BOWL: we are still looking for families who are willing to provide billeting for visiting sailors. This is a great way to get to know visiting sailors and their families. If you are able to help please fill visit the club website and click on "Offer to Billet Visiting Sailors."

WORKSHOP CLOSURE: the workshop will be out of service from Friday morning, October 13 to Monday, October 16th. It will be used for the Pumpkin Regatta lunch program.

PHOTOGRAPHERS NEEDED!: We still looking for photographers to take photos of all aspect of the regatta and for someone to collate photos onto a USB stick, display them in the clubhouse after each day's racing and then to upload them to shared folder that the competitors (and their parents) can access as a memento of the event. If you are able to help out please contact regatta chair Harry Coleman.

SAFETY: There are many small power vessels in the harbor. The club needs your support to ensure there are adequate safety vessels on the water. Also, in the case of the need to move a race course to find the wind, we need boats to tow the competitors to the new location. If you can help out, please contact Martin Wale or Stewart Jones

PARKING: Parking will be very tight as the parking area west of the Yachting Centre will be used to accommodate the 130 visiting dinghies. The west gate will be open to permit ease of access for the Eagle Island Residents and the RCM-SAR. If you are coming to the club, carpooling is requested. Our neighbors, Thunderbird Marina, will accommodate trailers and overflow vehicles.

Please note that the small boat hoist and the Mast Tower will not be accessible due to the Regatta.
