Friday, November 30th: Refugee Rescue



Earlier this year our own Horseshoe Bay based Royal Cananian Marine Search and Rescue SAR1 Coxwain Ian Grantham travelled to Lesvos Greece to serve as volunteer crew on the UK based "Refugee Rescue" vessel Mo Chara. Serving for almost a month Ian assisted over 500 refugees from many parts of the world yo try to have a chance at what we all take for granted. Between dealing with the weather and water, the UN High Commission on a refugees NATO, Turkish Coast Guard, Hellenic Coast Guard, Frontex and many other NGO's Ian describes it as a truly enlightening and life changing experience. One that he would repeat in a heart best. No stranger to WVYC, Ian has assisted at on the water Club events aboard SAR 1 for years. Come and hear his Refugee Rescue story on November 30.
