Membership Categories for new Applicants
A summary and comparison of the different categories available when applying for Membership at West Vancouver Yacht Club follows below...
Active
Active Membership is available to individuals 19 years of age and over.
Active Members enjoy all the rights and privileges of the Club, including the right to vote or hold office, or be assigned moorage. Active Members in good standing earn seniority, which is the key to obtaining moorage at WVYC.
Affiliate
Affiliate Memberships are available to individuals 19 years of age and over, and are commonly referred to as a “social membership” or a "non-moorage membership."
Affiliate Members have reduced privileges; they do not earn seniority and cannot be assigned moorage or use the boating facilities, cannot vote or hold office, nor use the outstations. This category is ideal for those who want to enjoy social events, and/or volunteer to be engaged in Club activities.
The Affiliate membership category is currently capped at 30 members and there is a wait list which you can join for this category.
Intermediate
Intermediate Memberships are available to individuals between the ages of 16 and 26. An Intermediate Membership entitles the individual to enjoy all the rights and privileges of the Club except the right to vote or hold office, or be assigned moorage.
Intermediate Members in good standing earn seniority. Upon reaching the age of 27 years, an Intermediate Member is automatically transferred to Active Membership.
Junior
Junior Memberships are available to individuals between the ages of 4 and 19. Junior Members have the right to participate in Junior activities. Junior Members do not earn seniority. Upon reaching the age of 19, a Junior Member is automatically transferred to Intermediate Membership.
+ As available, with priority first given to Active members
* Restricted to Club Junior activities / social events; and also to the Junior member only, not to family members.
